Hi! My name is Willow...

I need your help. I came into rescue after spending time at a Southern Ohio Shelter. I entered the shelter with a broken leg and certainly would have died there without treatment. Instead, a hope filled phone call saved my life. "We're here at the shelter, but we don't have room for this last dog -- she's got a broken leg and can't walk -- it might be expensive to fix" were the words relayed by another rescue group to my foster mom, a Forgotten 4-Paws Volunteer. Having to make a split second decision she paused, took a deep breath and reflected on the limited resources rescue groups have available to them. But with a smile and a prayer she repeated the words that changed my life: "I'll take her."

I have a long road of recovery ahead of me, but one glance into my deep brown eyes and you'll see how grateful I am for a second chance at life. My foster mom says I am the sweetest dog she's ever met and that I must be "fresh from heaven" since I have the spirit of an angel. Even through my pain, I still try to play and cuddle with her to show just how happy I am she helped me. At only 10 months of age, I can see the long road of a happy life in front of me now that Forgotten 4-Paws has entered my life.

This is where you come in. I am going to prove to be a very expensive little pound pup. I have a complete fracture in my femur (thigh bone) and my knee is also dislocated as a result of my injury. After one attempt to fix my leg failed, I have now been sent to an orthopedic specialist who will try to work his skilled magic and give me back the use of my leg. OK -- here comes the begging part -- you knew it was coming.

Please give to the Forgotten 4 Paws Willow Fund. Help offset the costs of repairing my leg and let me have my fairy tale ending of happily-ever-after. No amount is too small -- every gift is appreciated -- each penny adds up. Please donate today. I need your help.

UPDATE: Surgery was a success!!! Willow underwent surgery at Med Vet and she is on the road to recovery. As you can see by the before picture she suffered quite a break in her leg; the two halves had overlapped and began to fuse together. They estimated her injury to be 30+ days old. I can't imagine the pain she was in for so long. The after picture shows her reassembled leg; plates, pins and screws...I guess she won't be going through any metal detectors with ease. She has 4 more weeks of cage rest ahead of her which is proving to be very difficult for such a young dog. She feels so much better and she doesn't understand why she can't run around the yard with the rest of the dogs.

We are desperate to raise funds to cover the expense of her surgery. We do not want to ever turn away a dog like Willow, so please give today as sadly we know another Forgotten Friend is just around the corner in need of our help. Remember, no amount is too small -- every gift is appreciated -- each penny adds up. Thanks for your contribution and compassion for the animals.

Huge thanks to Dr. Barnhart and his awesome team at MedVet. We couldn't have done this without you.
